Paisley Family Farm is an old-world, sustainable farm, a living model of how pioneers survived and prospered through a complete self-sufficient farm and local-economy ecosystem. It promotes revitalization of farm heritage by raising endangered livestock breeds and growing old world crops.
One of the most interesting exhibits will be a lithograph in an open-air shelter at one edge of the farm proclaiming: "As you stand here, everything you need to live a healthy life is within 1500 feet of you: protein from eggs and animals, water from the spring, complete nutrition from these crops, heat from the woodlot, warm clothes from the sheep, milk from the cows and goats, sugar from the honey bees..."
Isn't that an eye opener for those of us that, largely with realizing it, get most of their food trucked in from hundreds and thousands of miles away?
